As we move forward together as One Hitachi, we continue to focus on providing you with benefits that support your total well-being, including your physical, mental and emotional health.

In 2021, there are several changes to our benefit plans and providers, including our health plans. Rest assured that you will continue to have choice and flexibility with the majority of our plan offerings. Next year, Consumer Driven Health Plans (CDHPs) will be offered through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Kaiser, which work the same way as our current Health Savings Account (HSA) plans:

  • Anthem Silver CDHP (all employees)
  • Anthem Bronze CDHP (all employees)
  • Kaiser CDHP (employees in Northern and Southern California only)

Anthem Medical Plans

Anthem’s extensive network offers you flexibility and choice in providers, and in most cases, you won’t need to change the doctors or facilities you visit. If you are currently undergoing care or treatment with a provider who is not part of the Anthem network, you may qualify for transition of care.

The Anthem Silver CDHP provides benefits similar to the current UHC Plus HSA, and the Bronze CDHP is essentially the same as the UHC Core HSA. To see if your doctor is in-network or find an in-network provider, visit anthem.com and:

  • Select Find a Doctor/Find Care. Then select Guest.
  • What type of care are you searching for? From the drop-down, select Medical.
  • What state do you want to search with? Select your state from the drop-down.
  • What type of plan do you want to search with? From the drop-down, select Medical (Employer-Sponsored).
  • Select National PPO (BlueCard PPO) for plan network.
  • Search for care by specialty, name, NPO or license number (or use the drop-down box below) and zip code.

Kaiser CDHP

The Kaiser CDHP is the same as the Kaiser HSA. With Kaiser coverage, you must see Kaiser providers and facilities for your care to be covered. To find in-network Kaiser providers, use the Find a Doctor tool.

Prescription Drugs

If you enrolled in an Anthem CDHP, your prescription drug coverage is administered by CVS Caremark. Your costs depend on which plan you enrolled in. You’ll receive a new ID card for your 2021 prescriptions.

Kaiser is the prescription drug administrator for its plans.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

Starting January 1, our HSA will be administered by HSA Bank. If you have an HSA with one of our current administrators (Optum Bank or HealthEquity), you will receive communications at a later time about how to transfer your HSA money to HSA Bank. As of January 1, all HSA contributions will be deposited into your HSA Bank account twice a year, in January and July.

New Limits in 2021

Both eligible employees and Hitachi Vantara may contribute to the HSA, except for Medicare enrollees and those receiving veteran benefits. The maximum HSA contribution for 2021 is increasing to $3,600 for employee only coverage and $7,200 for family coverage. These amounts include the contribution Hitachi Vantara makes to your account, combined with your personal, pre-tax payroll deductions.

Hitachi Vantara makes a sizable contribution to your HSA, depending on the medical plan you choose and whom you cover.

  • Anthem Silver CDHP: HV’s HSA contribution is $1,000 for employee only coverage and $2,000 for family coverage (that’s more than half the deductible for this plan!).
  • Anthem Bronze CDHP: HV’s HSA contribution is $750 for employee only coverage and $1,500 for family coverage.
  • Kaiser HSA: HV’s HSA contribution is $1,000 for employee only coverage and $2,000 for family coverage.

Delta Dental is replacing Guardian as our dental plan administrator. Choose from two plans:

  • Delta Dental Platinum PPO
  • Delta Dental Gold PPO

The Platinum PPO covers three preventive care cleanings per year (that don't count toward the annual out-of-pocket maximum), a higher orthodontia benefit maximum ($2,000), and offers other enhancements to basic and major services.

Vision coverage will be through Vision Service Plan (VSP). Instead of being included with medical coverage, vision is now a standalone benefit with a separate, nominal cost.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

During enrollment, we introduced a Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (LPFSA) that you can use to set aside money for dental and vision expenses in 2021. The LPFSA is only available if you are enrolled in both a CDHP and HSA.

Optional Life and AD&D Insurance

Starting in 2021, the maximum amount you can choose for Optional Life and AD&D Insurance is 4 times your annual base salary, up to $2 million (guaranteed issue remains at $750,000). View coverage levels and costs.

Short-Term Disability Coverage

All eligible employees outside of California will be automatically enrolled in our Short-Term Disability plan, even if you previously waived STD coverage. Short-term disability coverage remains mandatory for our California employees, in compliance with state law.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Anthem will replace Magellan as our EAP provider, and you may receive up to eight confidential counseling sessions.

Critical Illness Accident and Hospital Insurance

In addition to critical illness and accident insurance, you may now elect and pay for hospital insurance coverage. Voya will replace Aflac as the insurance provider for these voluntary benefits. View additional information about critical illness, accident insurance and hospital insurance.

Coverage for your dependents is available for any of these voluntary benefits, as long as you have elected coverage for yourself.

Note: More information will be provided at a later date if you are interested in continuing your coverage with Aflac.

Benefits will be available through ARAG. If you’re currently enrolled in the Hyatt Legal Plan, you were automatically moved to the ARAG UltimateAdvisor plan, which costs $13.50 per month.

Your Well-Being

To support your total well-being, you will continue to have a number of the same valuable benefits as you do now, plus some new and exciting benefits. These include:

  • Amino
  • Applied behavior analysis (ABA) support
  • Livongo
  • Hinge Health
  • FertilityIQ
  • Rethink

Student Loan Program

Ion Tuition is replacing SoFi as your student loan benefit program. If you have an account with SoFi, you may also maintain this account without any interruption.
