Flu Season Prevention Starts With You
While it’s still early, this flu season could be another bad one, according to experts. Last flu season, the United States saw as many as 650,000 hospitalizations and 58,000 deaths related to the flu, according to an AARP article.
But there are some measures you can take to minimize the severity of the flu, starting with a flu vaccine.
Lower Your Risk of Severe Illness With a Flu Shot
Getting a flu vaccine is your best chance at fighting the flu – especially if you are at a higher risk of complications from it. The flu shot can also lessen the severity of your symptoms, illnesses related to the flu, and the risk of serious complications that can result in hospitalization or even death.
Those with chronic health conditions are also at a higher risk for developing complications from the flu. This includes adults 65 and older, those with a weakened immune system, those who are pregnant, young children and elderly loved ones.
Flu Shots Cost You Nothing
The flu shot is 100% covered if you are enrolled in a Hitachi Vantara medical plan. There are many ways to get the flu shot safely. You can visit a pharmacy, go to your local urgent care, find a mobile flu shot clinic or make an appointment with your primary care physician. However you decide to get your flu shot, the important thing is to get it and stay healthy.
Tips to Stay Healthy This Season
