What Type of Care Is Covered?
Use Carrum Health for:
- Cancer care
- Heart surgeries
- Hysterectomies
- Digestive care
- Surgeries for bones, joints, and muscles
- Spine surgeries
- Weight loss surgeries
How Carrum Health Works
- No Surprise Bills: Pay one low price for your care and never receive a medical bill.
- Most costs are fully covered: For most procedures, you may not have to pay anything at all.*

Important Details
- Hitachi’s CDHP plans: You must meet the federal minimum deductible first, but copays and coinsurance are waived. Second opinions are always free and do not require payment of any deductible.
- Travel expenses: Some covered travel expenses may be reported as taxable income per IRS rules.
- Kaiser plan participants: Not eligible for Carrum Health.
- Bariatric procedures: Starting April 1, 2026, bariatric procedures must be performed within the Carrum Health network to be covered by a Hitachi health plan.
