Open Enrollment

2025 U.S. Open Enrollment: October 30 – November 13, 2024

Hitachi is committed to offering comprehensive benefits that provide you with a solid foundation to care for your physical, mental and financial well-being. Count on your benefits to support you and your family through every change and stage of life.

Open Enrollment is October 30 – November 13, 2024. Any changes you make take effect on January 1, 2025.

Take action by November 13, 2024

Visit hitachi.us/benefitpool (company key: hitachi), or download the MyChoice mobile app by Businessolver from the App Store or Google Play to enroll in or make changes to your benefits.

What’s new and changing for 2025

For 2025, we’re continuing to offer our robust programs, which include medical, dental and vision coverage, mental health, child care, elder care, pet care, legal support, and financial well-being benefits that have built our solid foundation. You’ll also see a few new and changing benefits, including but not limited to new prescription drug administrator, fertility medications covered by prescription drug insurance, voluntary insurance enhancements, and enhanced HSA contribution limits.

New prescription drug administrator

Beginning January 1, 2025, our prescription drug administrator will be Capital Rx for Anthem medical plans. If you enroll in or are currently enrolled in one of the Anthem medical plans, you will automatically have prescription drug coverage through Capital Rx – you do not need to take action.

You can fill or refill your prescriptions at more than 60,000 pharmacies or get a 90-day supply via mail service delivery. Capital Rx will notify you if any of your prescriptions change on the formulary. Watch for new Anthem medical ID cards in the new year, which will have Capital Rx information on the back.

Fertility medications covered by prescription drug insurance

The Anthem HSA Plus and Core medical plans will include prescription drug coverage as part of the lifetime fertility benefit. With this coverage, you’ll pay:

  • In-network – 20% coinsurance after the deductible is met, with a $7,500 lifetime maximum.
  • Out-of-network – 40% coinsurance after the deductible, with a $7,500 lifetime maximum.

Fertility medications will count toward the deductible beginning January 1, 2025.

Voluntary insurance enhancements

Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and Accident insurance will now cover more conditions at no additional cost and will feature enhanced coverages and increased coverage amounts for certain services.

Examples of Additional Covered Conditions

Critical Illness
Coronary artery bypass
Sudden cardiac arrest
Type 1 diabetes
Stem cell transplant
Muscular dystrophy
Congenital birth defects
Hospital Indemnity
Alcohol addiction facilities
Mental health facilities
Accident
Hospital admission
Critical care unit admission
Non-induced coma
Air ambulance
Emergency dental work
Sports accidents

You can enroll in these plans during Open Enrollment only.

Need a little extra family support?

No matter what stage of life you’re in, Inflection offers a range of courses covering topics such as fertility, reproductive diagnoses, in vitro fertilization and fertility treatments, LGBTQ+ family building, and more. Inflection also offers menopause support with information on hormone therapy, hot flashes, genitourinary symptoms, depression, sleep and sexual health in menopause.

Plus! The experienced caregivers at Bright Horizons Back-Up Care™ can help with in-home personal care, meal preparation or everyday household tasks while you’re recuperating from an illness, C-section or post-surgery.

Enhanced Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution limits

The HSA contribution limit for 2025 is increasing too. Beginning January 1, you can contribute:

  • Employee-only coverage – $4,300 (up from $4,150).
  • Family coverage – $8,550 (up from $8,300).

Employees age 55 and older can contribute an additional $1,000 as a catch-up contribution. Hitachi continues to make a sizable contribution to your HSA, which counts toward the annual limits.

You don’t need to re-enroll in your HSA each year. Your current election will carry over to 2025.

Open Enrollment is a good time to review your HSA and consider increasing your contributions, since new limits take effect January 1. You also have the flexibility to increase or decrease your HSA contributions during the year. Go to hitachi.us/benefitpool to make your revised election at any time.

Updated medical plan deductibles per IRS

The Anthem HSA Plus medical plan deductible is increasing, per IRS rules. Employee-only coverage is increasing to $1,650 (up from $1,600), and family coverage is increasing to $3,300 (up from $3,200).

The Kaiser medical plan deductible for an individual within family coverage also is increasing to $3,300 (up from $3,200).

Compare your medical plan options before you enroll.

Changes to medical paycheck deductions

Even as the cost of healthcare continues to rise year after year, our priority remains to offer you a competitive and robust package that supports your health and well-being. For 2025, you’ll see a slight increase in the amount you pay for medical coverage.

Your dental and vision deductions will remain the same.

Enrollment resources

You’re in charge of building the right mix of your Hitachi benefits. It’s up to you to choose the benefits that will best meet your and your family’s changing needs and life stages. We give you the foundation to do so.

  • Watch our Open Enrollment presentation to understand our benefit offerings, how they work, and what actions to take during Open Enrollment.
  • Want to compare medical plan costs? View a few short, prerecorded presentations that compare different cost scenarios by coverage level.
  • Attend a live Office Hours session to gather answers to your questions. Choose your preferred date and time to reserve your spot, and receive a calendar reminder with a link to the live session.

Ready to enroll?

Go to the Hitachi Benefit Pool website to enroll in or make changes to your benefits. If you have not previously registered, you will need to create a username and password and set up a few security questions (company key: hitachi).

  • Decide whether you want to participate in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) in 2025. FSAs require enrollment each year. Your FSA elections do not carry over from year to year. If you want a Health Care FSA, Limited Purpose FSA or Dependent Care FSA in 2025, you must re-enroll and elect your contribution amount.
  • Consider enrolling in optional benefits, such as the Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Accident, and legal insurance plans. Open Enrollment is the only time you can elect these benefits.
  • Review and update your beneficiaries, if necessary, for your HSA and life and AD&D insurance.

What happens if you don’t enroll

  • You’ll continue to have the same medical, dental, and vision coverage in 2025 that you currently have, covering the same dependents.
  • You will not be able to contribute to a Health Care, Limited Purpose or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) in 2025. To participate, you must re-enroll every year.

Your next chance to enroll will be during Open Enrollment in 2025, typically held in the fall, unless you have a qualifying life event.

Changes after Open Enrollment

If you experience a qualifying life event (birth or adoption, marriage or divorce, loss of coverage) during 2025, you can make changes to your benefits within 31 days (60 days for birth, adoption, or loss of coverage) from your effective status change date.
